Nostra storia
One family, one table
From one small room in 2012 to three doors on Portobello Road.
At Saporitalia, our story is one of family, passion and a love for bringing authentic Italian hospitality to the heart of Notting Hill.

It began beside the Tesco
Our journey began in 2012, when we opened our very first restaurant right next door to the Tesco on Portobello Road. What started as a small family dream quickly grew into something much bigger — thanks to the incredible support of our local community.

Grass over five feet tall
Soon after, an opportunity arose to take over the former Portobello Road School. When we first received the keys, the back garden — once the children's playground — had been left abandoned, with grass standing over five feet tall. Where others saw an overgrown space, we saw potential. With plenty of hard work, determination and a clear vision, we transformed it into what is now Portobello Garden, one of the most loved dining destinations in the area.

Everything under one kitchen
Originally, Portobello Garden was simply a café — breakfast, sandwiches, coffee and a relaxed place to meet. As demand grew, we expanded into the neighbouring property, moving Saporitalia alongside the Garden. Bringing everything together let us cook from one larger kitchen, making it easier to look after our growing team while keeping the quality and service our guests had come to expect.

From a record shop to a fuller table
As the family business continued to flourish, we expanded once again — taking over the neighbouring shop, formerly a vinyl record store. The extra room let us welcome even more guests, and keep growing with the community that had supported us from the very beginning.
Then came 2020
Like so many family businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic brought some of our greatest challenges. Overnight, the bustling atmosphere we had built over the years came to a halt. It was an incredibly difficult time — but one thing never changed: our family stood together. Through determination, resilience and the loyalty of our customers, we weathered the storm and came out stronger than ever.

The next generation steps forward
As the world slowly returned to normal, we adapted again. With the business evolving, the next generation stepped forward — transforming the third shop into a dedicated dessert destination, so each space has its own identity while remaining part of the same family.

Three doors, one kitchen
Today, Saporitalia has grown into three neighbouring venues, all connected by one kitchen, one family and one passion for authentic Italian food and hospitality. Whether you're joining us for brunch in the garden, a leisurely lunch, an authentic Italian dinner or an indulgent dessert, every visit is part of the Saporitalia experience.
For over a decade, our goal has remained the same: to make every guest feel like part of our family.
Three neighbouring venues.
One family. One passion.
The true taste of Italy in the heart of Notting Hill.
